Practice-Based Engineering: Mathematical Competencies and Micro-Credentials

A practice-based engineering degree, in which students worked on real-world, team-based projects from day one and throughout their course, was designed to address the need for employability skills a rapidly changing world. Teaching mathematics this way required very different approach lecture-exam based model prevalent most degrees. In order ensure all developed fundamental knowledge of engineers, micro-credential curriculum where micro-credentials were mapped delivered “just-in-time”. The contained forty-eight explicit mathematical areas measurement geometry, algebra, calculus, statistics probability as well many more other that contain skills, physics project budgeting. Mathematical competencies used framework design analysis micro-credentials. This paper presents description of, reflection successes challenges implementing teaching engineering.
